NXT, I had literally never
wrestled, never had a pair of
wrestling boots,” Kaitlyn told
WWE.com of her changing style.
“I look different from the other
girls, so I was trying to stick with
this tomboy athletic look.”
“That’s not me. I decided, ‘Hey,
I’m gonna dress how I feel
comfortable,’ and now I feel I
look more than myself, more
badass.”
“Once I took off the little
spandex shiny shorts and stuff
like that and I put on plain boots
and this kick-ass gear, I felt more
myself. I felt like it was a
graduation into the next chapter
of my career as an ass-kicker.”
“I feel like everything is about
image. How you look on the
outside and how you act in your
mannerisms have to reflect how
you feel on the inside. For a long
time I was struggling with that
and just trying to find a way to
express myself best.”
“I just feel so me in how I’m
dressing now. The way I dress
makes me feel even more like a
badass in my mindset. It’s kind of
weird how it’s all connected.”
“I feel like in general, [cutoff
gloves] just make you look
cooler and it’s as easy as that. Its
almost saying, ‘Hey cold weather,
I don’t care that my fingers are
cold. I have these awesome
gloves on.’ For some reason I
just feel more powerful.”
“I think before no one gave me
any credit and I think I didn’t
deserve any credit. I had to earn
it. Before I was like, ‘Oh, this
random girl who won NXT and
she’s kind of weird and quirky.
Kind of strong, but what can she
do?’ ”
“So much stuff has happened
this year. In a way I’ve been
given opportunities, but in a way
I’ve taken them. I’ve had stuff
taken from me and it’s made me
stronger … ever since I debuted
2 1/2 yrs ago on NXT, I’m
constantly changing and
growing.”
“My whole NXT season three
journey was just me finding out
who I was and what my strong
points are in the ring.”
“For people to start recognizing
me and recognizing my abilities
and what my strengths are … I’m
not super technical and I don’t
think I’ll ever be.”
“I feel like I learn fast, I adapt to
a situation that I’m put in and
I’m hungry for the next thing
that comes at me.”
“Literally every match I have,
every day I’m alive, I learn
something new. It’s like my
evolution. Definitely now I think
people take me more seriously. I
hope they do.”
